Team Cedarstream: Meet Leo

GET TO KNOW OUR TEAM: LEO

One of the hardest things to endure for any company is having to say goodbye to amazing team members.  Unfortunately for Cedarstream, the time has come for us to say goodbye to one of our own.  Leo, one of our customer service team members, will be completing his last day with us this week.  As sad as this news has made us all, we couldn’t be happier for Leo and this next upcoming chapter in his life.  Leo has made the decision to return to school full time in pursuit of receiving a PHD in Chemistry from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.  He’s a bright, witty, and friendly individual whose absence will be felt by us all but again we couldn’t be more proud of his efforts to better himself and look forward to having the opportunity to one day in the near future call him “Dr. Leo.”  Brian, our Social Media Director, recently had the chance to sit down with Leo and ask him a few questions.

So you’re heading to Purdue to pursue a PHD in Chemistry.  Do you already have plans on what you’d like to do with that PHD?

Well the doctorate program takes five years for completion but once I graduate I’d like to eventually teach Chemistry at the college level with my own lab where I can perhaps discover an unknown element or create one on my own.

What was your favorite part about your time here at Cedarstream?

Honestly, I was able to assist some pretty amazing customers.  I loved getting calls from customers that were so excited with their experience with us.  That was pretty awesome.  I also have some really chill coworkers and have enjoyed getting to live out my “The Office” fantasy.  Michael Scott would be proud.

Do you have a memory about Cedarstream that sticks out?

Trying to teach Kurt (Our Purchasing Director) how to use his iPhone and having philosophical conversations with Dave (One of our Graphic Designers) about what’s the point of Twitter and why people “Tweet.”

Have you acquired any new skills while you’ve been here that you feel will help you in the future?

I’d have to say the skills I’ve learned in Customer Service.  You have to have the ability to be an effective communicator.  With that being said, I think these skills will increase my public speaking skills as well as help me in being a more effective communicator.  That’s going to come in handy when instructing students.

Is there anything about working in our industry that surprised you?

How competitive the industry is.  I always just assumed people went to the same place for custom shirts but never realized there were so many knock off companies around.  I’m glad to say though that we’re top notch though when it comes to our quality, prices, and customer service.

So let’s get to know a little about you Leo.  Any secret skills that we’d be surprise to know about you?

I’m not going to lie, I’m a pretty mean dancer.  I’ll break it out on somebody quick.

Do you have a favorite movie?  I’m a Film Geek so I love asking people what’s their favorite film.

If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Europe without question but narrowing it down I’d go to either Rome, Italy or Athens, Greece.  I’d love to witness all the historical landmarks like the Colosseum in Rome or the Parthenon in Athens.

So for your final question, what do you think you’re going to miss the most about Cedarstream?

I’ll miss the nine to five hours for sure.  I’m really going to miss the friendships that I’ve made especially with “Kimpossible” (Kim from Marketing/Graphic Design) and the rest of the lunch table gang.
Thanks Leo for being such a joy for all of us to work with.  You’re going to be an irreplaceable team member and we wish all the best on your journey.  Just remember that no matter how much time passes or how much distance is between us, you’ll always be part of the Cedarstream family!
